Design and Style

The design and style of these shoes are not their strong points.
The Mizuno shoes are considered by most to be beautiful, tasteful and stylish.

Durability

These shoes are usually considered as durable as any other shoes in their category. This means that they will usually last for about 300-350 miles. The shoes are extremely stable, and only few people find that they do not hold for as long as they would expect.
The Mizuno Wave shoes are extremely durable, owing to Mizuno's durable carbon rubber that is very resistant to wear in high impact areas.

Low Cost

The Asics Gel-Nimbus 10 are relatively pricey. However, not to the point of being unaffordable.
The Mizuno Wave Creation 8 shoes are not cheap.

Support

Most runners who bought these shoes reported them to have very good support. For many, these were the most comfortable shoes on the market for someone with normal to mild pronation. The shoes are a very good choice for feet with fairly high arches which are wide at the toe but narrow at the heels. The sturdy support may, in some rare cases, give you heel blisters.
The Mizuno Wave Creation shoes have excellent support whether you run short or long distances, and regardless of which terrain you run on. Some runners used inserts for high-arch support and reported that the shoes accommodate them easily.

At 10.6oz (300g), these shoes are pretty lightweight for most people.
At 10oz (285g), the Wave Creation shoes are lightweight and comfortable to run in.

Comfort

The Gel Nimbus normally provide great cushioning and are very comfortable and stable. Several runners commented that these are the most comfortable for runners whose feet pronate while running, while some wider footed runners complained that the toe box can feel a bit narrow. Many runners reported that the shoes "feel new" for longer compared with other shoes, and for very few, heel blisters were a problem.
Many runners comment that the Mizuno Wave Creation shoes are really comfortable to run in. Some runners feel that this is a good shoe for neutral runners (who do not supinate or pronate). The shoes have also got good cushioning and shock absorption.

Since retiring, I had bought cheaper jogging shoes to save money. But my knees and one foot started bothering me, so I googled "best running shoes under pronator" and the ASICS Nimbus came up repeatedly. My knees don't hurt any more and my foot stopped hurting the first night. These are great shoes and my body is worth the price.

Nicely cushioned, overall a good product

(Score 4/5)

I've been an Asics fan for years now. I know, it's not good to have brand loyalty such that one excludes the possibility of other brands. However, it seems like Asics always fits well, especially for their Wide sizes that I need.

The only issue I have with the shoe is that it seems like the arch of the shoe protrudes a little bit more inward than I would like. It's not significantly disruptive though...it does not really poke your foot or anything. It is noticeable though. It is less so if you happen to use thicker cushioned socks as I do.

The Nimbus is a good shoe to use for runners that just need cushion or perhaps just need a slight amount of stability control. Technically a neutral/cushioned shoe, the Nimbus covers a good range of pronation so that it could be worn comfortably by most people.

If one cannot afford the price (sales happen for Asics through the year, however) the Cumulus is the inexpensive cousin to the Nimbus---similar, but the Nimbus is supposed to be a better shoe, hence the price. One can also just try for older models, although the specifics often change from year to year---this will include things such as the toebox dimensions, flexibility, or cushion/stability of the shoe. It is highly advisable to do a little homework on the different versions of the model you are interested in.

LOVE these shoes!

(Score 5/5)

I was nervous after ordering these shoes because of some of the reviews I read on this and other sites. Needless worrying!! I LOVE these shoes! My second run in them was 10 miles, and I had absolutely none of the aches and pains that often accompany that run (for me, anyway). I suppose that this is another example of how each runner has his or her preferences; I'm just glad I didn't let the negative reviews chase me away!

Blisters and Uncomfortable

(Score 1/5)

I must admit these fit great on in the store. The heel fit is very snug, and the asymetrical lacing was different, but alright and the overall feel was good. Let me just say, I'm extremely picky about my shoes because I walk, jog, run or some other type of exercise just about every day and over the past year I've lost 30 kgs. My last shoes were Nike Air and I wore them until they warped. Every store person tells me Asics is the best, so I figure they have to be an all round excellent shoe and the price I bought them for in Australia is $230. Since I'll be wearing my exercise shoes all the time, price is not the main factor. After 1 hour on the treadmill I was in agony. My heels, my poor, poor heels!!! I couldn't walk for about two hours afterwards. The heel support feels like fiberglass and it has NO GIVE at all and is extremely uncomfortable. The asymetrical toe gave me blisters on both sides of my feet, especially on my toes and I got 1/2 size larger than my street shoes as I normally do, but others might have to try even 1 size larger. Overall, this was the most expensive shoe in the store and more uncomfortable than the cheapest K-Mart brand. The heel supports are far too rigid, and my foot is not very wide at all. I purposely got these shoes so that I wouldn't have to take them back (following everyone's advice about Asics in general) but they were a huge disappointment. I have taken back around 5 or 6 pairs of different shoes now - due to stitching coming undone first try, glue coming undone and pulling fabric inside away, wrong sizing and they didn't go up to my size, extremely uncomfortable and even more. I've tried Saucony, Adidas, Asics, Brooks, Puma, K'Mart brands and so much more. I now have another pair of Nike Air Pegasus and I'll see how these go. Shoes are so personal.
