Best Value for the price

(Score 5/5)

I have had this netbook for three weeks now, after my larger laptop died. This was a better, more cost effective alternative to having the old one fixed. I am very happy I took advantage of it!

WindowsXP is easy enough and for my needs, this is perfect. It's light weight, portability and long battery life, makes it the perfect computer for those of us who need the convenience of a netbook.

I couldn't be more pleased! If you are in the market for a netbook, I suggest for anyone to not count this one out. It's a gem.

Great Backpack Stuffer

(Score 4/5)

I have several computers. I got tired of lugging my 15 inch laptop all over the city. I looked at several net-books with a budget of about 300 dollars in mind.
After looking at about 6 or 7 net-books, most of them with Windows 7 and an
Atom N470 processor, I found this little gem. When I played with the Window 7
machines I noticed that the graphical response was sluggish. I assumed that the Atom processor working with 1 gig of memory and the embedded video processor were working hard under Windows 7. The eMachine net-book with Windows XP Home SP/3 seemed a lot more responsive and peppy and since the price was about 30 to 50 dollars cheaper than the other machines I bought the eMachine with XP. I have not been disappointed! I love this machine. It weights less than half my 15 inch laptop I bought in 2009. After cleaning off all the crapware and setting it up to work like my other laptop it spins like a top. I then connected up my external USB DVD burner to it and had no problem making backup driver and system restore disks.
I have this net-book in my backpack all the time. Time will tell if this thing
is built well enough to last 3-5 years. The thing is actually a re-branded Acer.
You should be able get a 6 cell battery for it to extend the discharge time to 6 hours or so. The eMachine website has the drivers for it and some documentation, but there is only basic online support for this model.
I highly recommend this model for it's speed and price. So far I have been running all kinds of popular apps and it hasn't crashed or locked up (yet).
My only gripe is that I wish there was a physical volume control(wheel)
to control headphone/line-out volume.

Great netbook

(Score 4/5)

I wanted to give it 4.5 stars but no such thing as a half star here on Amazon, lol.

Yes it's not a full size laptop or desktop. And you should definitely know what you're getting yourself into for a netbook. A netbook isn't intended for intense gaming, movie editing, and what not. It's great for web surfing and for college students because of its light weight.

I just got this great tiny machine today and so far so good. It booted up pretty quickly and I have already downloaded Google Chrome, Skype, and Itunes. And haven't had any issues. Speed is great. However, I too like the others will upgrade the 1gb ram to 2gb. And come on 250 gb for HDD? Can't get any better for a netbook. And I own a 320 gb external hard drive and a full size laptop (which too is an Acer) with a total of 730 gb of HDD!! I have no complaints.

Only reason it's a 4.5 star because of the 3 cell battery and I cannot find the webcam file. 3 cell battery can definitely be upgraded.

Though be aware of the small touch pad and back space button. And I should get used to it by tomorrow morning :)

This is definitely great for a student, like me. I can keep my full size laptop at home while I can take this to school without having to worry about the added gazillion pounds of weights from my books.

Definitely a great buy! Highly recommended!

And do your research before buying anything and everything takes some getting used to. Netbooks aren't built for heavy usage of programs that would typically need a computer/laptop with a 3gb or higher memory. This is great as a back up, alternative, and item to take to the cafe!

:) :) :)

Cool little Netbook

(Score 5/5)

Win 7 starter, made it so easy to go wireless, and hook up to HomeGroup, to share files ect. Dose everything a small Netbook needs to do. Very easy to use. Its really an Acer. Gateway, Acer, & Emachines, are really the same, in this case.

Good Deal

(Score 5/5)

Got this computer back in February and haven't regretted it one bit. Although I don't travel all the time, I do travel three times a year for work purposes. Not only have I taken the computer to the work things but I also took it with me on vacation this summer and it worked like a charm. I'm going to upgrade to a larger RAM because it runs too slow on a 1G, but new RAM doesn't seem that expensive for this computer. The price was definitely well worth it. I highly recommend it.

Lean, mean, awesome machine!

(Score 5/5)

I have had this netbook for 10 days now and don't know what I would do without it! It is fast enough, has an above average display & the webcam is great. It seems to be fashionable to disparage eMachines, but I've had one of their PC's for a while now & it has been a work horse. It was easy for me to purchase this little computer based on my history with eMachines & it hasn't let me down. Anyone looking for a super portable and useful computer should NOT count this one out!

The only caveat is that the company doesn't offer much in the way of support, but get the Amazon extended warranty or buy one from the Geek Squad. Both of them will assist you at a minutes notice & you can even get coverage just in case YOU do some damage.

That being said, I would buy another one of these in a NY minute! I LOVE THIS NETBOOK!!!!

Very Good.

(Score 5/5)

Instead of going WAL-MART for a COMPUTER, I went to a Micro Center and bought if for $219.99. Great little machine. I've had it for about 2 months now. It has nice specs, an Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 250 GB SSD HD, and Windows 7 Starter. Actually, Starter was only okay. So I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. And this PC can easily handle Aero with 1 GB RAM. I HAVE had some problems, bu fixed. Paid $30 when Windows couldn't boot. No memory lost. Then, I accidentally set the BIOS to boot from USB before HD, I fixed that myself in a couple of minutes. So in conclusion, It's a great little PC. Oh, and please read the guy's name in the user manual. Hilarious!
