Klipsch Image X10 Noise-Isolating Earphone

Not only is it the world's smallest and lightest full-range in-ear headphone design, the Klipsch Image fuses lifestyle, technology, and fashion to offer a personalized fit and deliver a precision-tuned acoustic experience. IMAGE earphones utilize translucent patent-pending Contour Ear Gels that are anatomically designed to accurately fit inside the human ear canal. These soft, oval silicon tips reduce ear fatigue as well as provide an amazing seal for excellent noise isolation and increased bass response. Because ear canal measurements vary, each IMAGE model comes with five different ear gel sizes: small, medium, and large single flange designs as well as small and large double flange designs. Exclusive extended-frequency KG926 balanced micro-armatures deliver a superior acoustic experience with all the delicate accuracy you have come to expect from Klipsch. IMAGE earphones feature aluminum bodies finished in beautiful anodized copper and sleek, streamlined black "tails." Aside from aesthetic appeal, these flexible "tails" reduce cable stress and serve as an acoustic dampener to minimize cable noise.

Great sound, not sturdy

(Score 3/5)

No question the sound is excellent, and they are very comfortable. However, I'm giving it only 3 stars because of build quality. Do not expect to use these for everyday use. After 2.5 years the wire shorted out, and they are not repairable. There went $350 in 2.5 years of use. Not good at all. So, buyer beware!!

Klipsch X-10 Image - The Best In-Ear Headphon

(Score 5/5)

I have owned a pair of Shure EC3s, Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5.1 Pro, Shure SE410s, and Etymotic hf3's.
This is the BEST PAIR I HAVE EVER OWNED. Klipsch is always first in my mind when it comes to home stereo.
For home sound I use RSX5 monitors and 10"Sub both manufactured by Klipsch.
The sound is powerful and crisp; to audiophiles they will find it very similar to the sound that Cerwin-Vega monitors or floorstanding speakers will - earth shattering, LOUD, and accurate. That's exactly what these headphones sum up.
Consider the high price what you pay for as these are the very best. Highly-regarded ergonomic design, ultra-lightweightness (they feel like nothing's there) and VERY LOUD AND CLEAR. Incredible bass with that punch in-ear's usually miss. This is a professional grade set of machines.
If you want the best there is out there when it comes to in-ear, don't even think twice. I've written a similar review for the SuperFi's a while back, but those are years old and times-they-are-changin'! This is Klipsch's first leap into in-ear territory - and this flagship model - X10 Image is the very highest quality I have had the pleasure of using to listen to my wide range of music. I highly recommend this over any other similarity on the market. Everything else has become sub-par with these available to us.

No warranty if purchased from Amazon

(Score 1/5)

The delicate wires shorted on my set and Klipsch would not honor warranty stating that Amazon was not an authorized KLIPSCH dealer. That means you are out of luck and you should consider your purchase as an "AS IS" much like EBAY>

Not worth the risk. I would look at shure or ultimate ears for alternative products. Klipsch is not the company it once was (paul, rip).

Great Sound Great Comfort

(Score 5/5)

That bag hanging in my closet, yes the one with all the wires hanging out, is the headphone graveyard. I've tried most of them: BlueTooth, Nose, unSure, Toothless, you name it. These are the best so far. The sound is the first grabber. Crisp, clear, I heard details other headphones miss, classic rock and in choral music. Then, the comfort. They're very light, very small, nicely curved, and among the most comfortable out there. The isolation is good, maybe too good. If there's any drawback, they're not suitable for use in situations where you want to be aware of ambient sound, e.g. traffic. Don't use on a bicycle. For these headphones, good sound requires a good seal, so only plan on using them when your iPod is all you want to hear. Carry these plus the standard iPod/iPhone "whites" and you'll have everything you need.

Perfect sound quality, poor construction

(Score 3/5)

There are so many reviews giving it 5 stars. People generally state that sound quality is good. Well, it's not. It's outstanding. They produce a very flat response over the whole range, including the bass - you shouldn't listed for people complaining about it :) There is a problem, though. The build quality of the cable and the TRS (the 3.5 jack connector). After a while I found out that the cable started to get wrinkly, month later 50% of the cloth protecting the cable itself teared apart. Some day after one line just stopped working. I wasn't really abusing them or anything, just the normal home-office use, but the cable broke after like 4 months of use... Cmon guys, it's almost year 2050, humans are flying far above the surface in space stations, building deadly weapons and transplanting brains, still they can't produce a good robust cable.

Solid, gets the job done

(Score 3/5)

Bought these as a replacement for the Bose in-ear buds.

The multiple ear tips helps you find the ideal fit and the ear hooks worked well after a few days of adjusting to them. The sound quality suited my needs (I'm not an audiophile) for my commute/workouts just fine.

The one complaint that I have concerns the cable. The weaved casing seemed like a nice touch, but after 2 months of use (coiling, uncoiling, storing in the protective case) I noticed that the cable started to blister out of the weave in some areas that were excessively bent. Incidentally, the cable came 'folded' and not coiled, so the creases were present when i first received the headphones.

I'm not sure how much I paid, but it was on a significant discount, so I'm satisfied with the purchase.

Nice sounding earphones

(Score 4/5)

Out of box, these earphones sounded tinny. I burned them for around 80 hours and the sound quality has completely changed....The Bass is tight and deep, Mids are great and the highs are detailed...As with all other IEMs the fit decides the whole sound quality, fortunately the included oval shaped ear-gels provide a tight and comfortable fit with good isolation from outside noise (Klipsch will mail you two pairs of ear-gels of your choice FREE if you register the product online)..... The cable is wrapped in cloth so, it tangles less....Microphonics are there but they are somewhat reduced by the memory wire housing for over-the-ear fit.....

Custom 2 Vs Image S4: One can find the Custom 2's at around $80-100 (much less than the MRP of $199) now-a-days as they are discontinued set of earpieces. Klipsch Image S4 are also available at $80 which have a much pronounced bass, but overall a FUN sounding IEMs (Good for rock/hip-hop/pop). Custom 2's on the other hand provide more detailed sound than the S4's with much emphasis on vocals (good for classical/live music)....

These headphones were a step up for me and in the end, the sound quality is good to very good. But getting them right took ages. if the speaker isn't perfectly fitted in the ear then there is NO bass. Now, they sound good, feel Ok but I wouldn't recommend without trying the fit first

price and quality combined

(Score 5/5)

These are great ear phones for the money. There were many options for fit and I'm getting great sound quality. There is a little sound from the wires rubbing, but when I tighten them up under my chin, that is eliminated. I'm very satisfied and would buy them again. I got $150 earphones for half price--what a bargain too.
