Great double stroller

(Score 4/5)

We got this for our newborn and toddler about 9 mos ago, after a very LONG search (and trying many exotic brands at "boutique" baby stores) and have been using it ever since.

The upsides: At 2l lbs, it is the lightest double stroller we found which will hold an infant car seat (only side-by side "umbrella" strollers (which are not suitable for infants because they don't recline) are lighter). You dont' need to use a Peg infant seat, it holds our Graco SnugRide infant seat (secured with a luggage strap wrapped from underneath the the fully-reclined seat and over the side notches on the car seat). It folds and unfolds pretty easily (you do need to use 2 hands to open and close, unlike the single Pegs which can be opened with one hand) and stands when folded (a plus for storing neatly when you go out to eat/someone's house, at home or day care, etc, as many other strollers can't stand up folded, you have to lie them down on their sides). It fits in the trunk of our hatchback (the Joovy Caboose and Baby Trend Sit-N-Stand were actually too long to fit in our trunk). While a bit bulky when loaded with 2 kids and diaper bags, it's still pretty easy to push and we've never had a problem navigating most urban sidewalks (with minor bumps, cracks, etc), hard-packed dirt (like you might find in a public park or playground), doorways, elevators in the subways, aisles in most stores, etc.

The downsides: Small snack trays and no cup holders for the kids, no cup holder or parent tray for the adult (don't even bother using the cheap cup holder they give you, it will break off after the first few times) so we got one of those hanging stroller bag/pouches that have small pockets big enough to hold wipes, snacks and 2 standard water or baby bottles (think it was ~$15-20?) and 2 hooks for the handlebar for hanging bags, etc. The storage bin, which is basically is the length and width of the seats, seems a little flimsy and is not too deep (but we still manage to shove a normal-sized diaper bag underneath). The hand brake can be a hard to engage, but since we don't use it too often, it's not a problem for us.

Great stroller with some big issues

(Score 3/5)

In a nutshell this is a GREAT stroller in every regard except that it's awful to steer and go over any form of bump. It's really light weight, has a food tray, and folds up very easily. But, I have decided to sell mine and get the city mini double b/c yesterday we hit a TINY bump in the sidewalk and the stroller came to a crashing halt and literally tipped over with both kids in it! The wheels are simply too small for the size of the stroller and unless you are walking on the street with no bumps, this thing is VERY difficult to manage and steer.

I like it for many reason, but that was the last straw. It shouldn't be that hard to push my two kids around. If they were smaller, maybe. But my 3 and 1 year old are simply too much weight (and they aren't big kids) to make this manageable.

I love my Peg!

(Score 5/5)

Looking for a double stroller was quite an endeavor! I wanted it to be lightweight and be able to take a carseat, with some storage space underneath. The Peg Perego and the Combi were the only two that met my qualifications. I've had my Peg now for about 4 months and couldn't be happier. I use a regular Graco carseat and can place it forward facing or rear facing. It doesn't "click in" like the special Peg Perego carseat would, but it is still very secure. The straps are a bit of a pain sometimes, but they do give you the freedom to do a 5 point harness hookup or a 3 point. I've gotten used to them now. You can easily take off the bars in the front (on one or both sides)if you don't like them. The basket underneath is a little flimsy, but I don't have any problem putting library books under there. This stroller is not made for "off-roading" per se. It's definitely light-weight. It gets stuck if there are large cracks in the sidewalk or big bumps. I never really use the brake, but it is a little difficult. It's supposed to get easier the more you use it. The sunshades are adequate. I always bring sunglasses for the girls anyway. Anyway, the pros outweigh the cons for me.

Not worth the money!

(Score 2/5)

I have had this stroller for 11 months. I wanted to love this stroller, but have found so many flaws. I really only some-what enjoyed this stroller for the first 2-3 months when I had a newborn and an 18 month old toddler. This stroller was great in that it allowed me to rest the infant carseat and the fit was great!

Otherwise, I can only unfold it 50% of the time without cussing (and yes, I am going to write or call the manufacturer until this is resolved!!!!!!). This is VERY aggravating when you drive 45 minutes to get to the zoo, then the darn stroller does not even work!

Second - this is flimsy. almost feels like an umbrella stroller.
Third - the wheels are so small and generic that it is tough to get up even the smallest curb.
Fourth - the large basket at the bottom is flimsy. Can only put light objects in the bottom.

So my end recommendation - If you do not need this to accomodate an infant then KEEP LOOKING! However, this stroller was handy for an infant car seat since I had great difficulties finding one to accomodate my ages requirements.

Overall summary is that I am not a happy customer and I will make efforts to contact the manufacturer.

Very light, but impractical for city streets

(Score 3/5)

Purchased this stroller because it was the lightest side-by-side stroller, but it does not go over those city sidewalks bumps and cracks too well. You need to constantly put your foot on basket to lift it up over each uneven pavement. I wish it had bigger wheels and better traction. Also, the basket is not very deep but large in width and the front bar-child trays are hard to snap open.

LOVE this stroller

(Score 5/5)

Before my son was born, we bought a big jogger stroller. I liked the jogger, but a few months back we found ourselves in need of a smaller, lighter stroller for a vacation involving trips on planes, trains and the subway. I selected this one because of the other reviews and because I liked the color. (The orange is really easy to spot in the middle of a bunch of other dark strollers or on a crowded street, and the brown matched my diaper bag.) Well, we LOVE this stroller. Compared to the jogger, which we thought was just fine before, well- there is no comparison. This stroller is much easier to handle, fold, carry, turn, etc. At about 11 pounds, it weighed less than my baby did the first time we used it. It is so easy to fold and unfold one-handed and is a breeze to carry. It is quite well cushioned for being so lightweight. My son seems very comfortable in it. The basket is HUGE- much bigger than the bigger stroller, go figure. The sun canopy is gigantic- again, so much better than our other stroller.
The best feature of the stroller is one which I did not even know that it had when I bought it. The harness actually detaches from the shoulder blade area of the stroller so that your little one can sit up straight and look around while still being safely strapped in. My son loves to sit up, scoot towards the front of the seat, and bounce himself while we stroll. He is so happy riding in this.
My only improvement suggestion would be the way in which the plastic handle is molded. As it is, the seam is right at your fingertips, which is a little bothersome.
Overall, we are very glad we chose this one and I'm sure it doesn't need to be said that the big jogger stroller now spends most of its time folded in the corner of out garage.

poor design

(Score 2/5)

I have an eight month old daughter and my biggest concern with this stroller was the "freedom of movement" harness. This is a 5 point harness that DOES NOT attach to the seat back, in order to allow the child to move around freely. There is a small tab on the back of the harness that you insert into a slit in the seat back in order to strap the child into the stroller and once you've adjusted and secured the "5 points" of the harness, you un-insert the tab to allow free movement. I discovered that the harness automatically detaches itself when the child moves slightly. This is where I really became concerned. There is nothing to secure the back of the harness to the seat. The child can lean ALL the way forward. This is very dangerous and if I had known about this, I would never have purchased this stroller.

Awesome!

Firstly, I bought this as a first stroller, and it has everything that we need. I saw reviews that said things like "works for what we use it for", but what else do you need? For it to sprout wings and fly your baby to your destination? Lol. I can't believe that this is one of their cheap models! I'm curious to know what their expensive models have extra that makes them worth it. I do not drive; I walk to the grocery store, 7-11, doctor's office, friends' homes, park, etc., and my son comes with me in his stroller for all of it. The best part of this stroller - protection from the hot, summer sun! (That's exactly why I bought this one, and yay, I was not disappointed). I read a review saying there was a safety issue. Actually, it was the fact that the baby can lean all the way forward, which they can do in any stroller without shoulder straps, so his old stroller allowed him to do that, and I assure you, there is NO safety problem with this stroller. He will not fall out, yet he can still move around. The only child you would have to worry about is one who can't hold their body up on their own yet, and a baby that young should still be using the carseat in the stroller anyway. The parent cup holder isn't great, but I don't see th

Very happy with this stroller

(Score 4/5)

I bought this for my third child about a month ago and I am very happy with it. Here are the pro's and con's:

PRO:
1. VERY lightweight and compact. When folded the handle bar slides in so that it doesn't make the stroller longer and takes up less space.
2. Really does fold easily with one hand
3. Has a snack tray which is very useful and which most umbrella and other lightweight strollers don't have
4. It accepts my Graco car seat. It doesn't click into place but seems to be secure.
5. Very easy to maneuver, even with one hand. it's a city stroller, but even rides pretty smooth on the wood chips at the park.
6. Large accessible storage basket

CONS:
1. The seat does not recline flat. This is a problem with many strollers, even some of the full size ones. I will never understand why they can't just add a couple of inches of fabric to make it recline all the way back. It reclines almost flat, and my 3 month old sleeps comfortably in it, but I would not recommend for that newborn floppy phase.
2. No parent tray. Didn't even realize how much I used it with my old stroller, but now wish this one had a tray to drop my keys and a pacifier in. The water bottle holder is not helpful and falls off every time I fold the stroller, I tossed it.
3. The shoulder straps cannot be completely removed like in the Graco strollers. I never used these and would love to take them out entirely. What you can do is take the seat padding off and slide only the leg straps back through.

Would give it 5 stars if the back rest reclined all the way down. Over all very good stroller.

Not a bad stroller, but has safety concerns

(Score 2/5)

Peg-Perego 2009 Aria OH Stroller, Titanio

I recently purchased this stroller after reading the detailed and exceptional reviews of this stroller. I have a Chicco Cortina stroller which is great for younger infants, but since my baby is now an early toddler, I felt it was time to purchase something more compact and lightweight. This is a nice looking stroller and has all of the needed features, the snack tray, a nice sized rain cover, large storage basket, etc. However, my biggest concern with this stroller was the "freedom of movement" harness. There's nothing to prevent a child whether a supported or unsupported sitter from slamming forward into the snack tray on the front of the stroller. I tested the stroller one time only and was just not comfortable with the fact that my toddler was bouncing around all around. I can't imagine how a small infant would be secure in this stroller, at all. I expected a lot better from Peg Perego. I understand that this is one of the "lesser" expensive models from them, but there is no excuse for lack of safety, in any price range. I'm no expert on stroller making, but it would be so simple and perfect if Peg anchored an adjustable strap to the seat back that snapped onto the back harness, which would allow free movement, without allowing a child to lean all the way forward. I give a big thumbs up to Amazon for understanding this issue, and allowing me to return this stroller. I purchased the Maclaren Triumph, and so far so good. There was a recall for Maclaren umbrella strollers (a self imposed recall by Maclaren) due to the nationwide concerns for fingers getting caught and pinched in folding hinges and possible amputation. Maclaren will send out a hinge cover kit free of charge, but most of the newer models (like the one I just purchased) already have the hinge covers.
