Maclaren Volo

A lightweight and easy to use stroller. It is easy to fold with a carry strap. Single position, easy to clean which has self locking wheels and a removable mesh seat. Ergonomic handle for comfortable pushing. Adjustable five-point for baby security. The stroller comes with a rain cover.

Accessories

Lightweight strollers don't normally have many extras. They are usually equipped with a basket and canopy, and sometimes cup holders.

The Maclaren is equipped with a reasonably sized basket and a useful rain protector and sun shield.

Adult Comfort

The level of comfort this stroller provides for the adults who push and use it. Some strollers are not comfortable for adults over a certain height, others make your feet kick the back wheels, and this all has to be considered.

The Maclaren is very easily manoeuvred, even single handedly. It is comfortable for taller people, between 5'4 (162.5m) and 6' (182.9m) as they do not bang their feet on the wheels or need to stoop. The stroller has a crossbar on the rear-wheel locks which allows locking both wheels simultaneously, as opposed to the individual locks prevalent in most models. The handles are comfortable and the stroller is very easy to carry anywhere.

Child age and weight

Strollers have child weight limit which usually correlates to age and size.

Carrying Capacity: 55 lbs. (15 kg).

Low Cost

How expensive is this stroller?

The Maclaren is relatively expensive.

Easy Folding and Carrying

Lightweight 'umbrella' strollers are meant for travel. How easy is it really to fold and unfold the stroller?

The Maclaren is very easy to open and close and has good one-hand operation. It is extremely lightweight and the carrying strap is very handy and comfortable.

Security and Comfort

Security and comfort are very important for your child, how secure is the stroller for children and how comfortable is the seat?

The Maclaren is equipped with a very good 5 point harness and a child-proof buckle. Even though the seat does not recline, most children seem to love the stroller and feel comfortable in it. However, this and the way the shoulder straps are manufactured mean that the stroller could be uncomfortable for smaller children. The lack of recline can also mean that children of all ages may feel uncomfortable when sleeping in the stroller.

Lightweight

A stroller's weight is usually important for when you need to push it up or down hill, and when you need to load it to your car or unload it. On the other hand, lower weight strollers, if they are not made from hi-tec materials, are usually more fragile and prone to break down sooner than others.

The Maclaren's weight is 8.6 lbs (3.9 kg). This is extremely light for a stroller and many users report that it feels very lightweight and easy to handle, load to the car or even carry around when required.

Kids slouch in this particular Maclaren.

(score 1/5)

We have had a Volo in the distant past, when the entire fabric was meshed. That suffered being left somewhere, and we needed something for a transatlantic trip so we re-purchased. When we got this we first thought that it was defective. The fabric was too slack and the result was that the child was totally slouched, back making a nice 'C' shape. We went instead with the one model above it that has the reclining seat as that seat has stays to keep it flat. Was worth the extra couple of dollars and pounds of weight.

Perfect For An Older Child

(score 4/5)

We bought this for our 4 yr old. We needed something light and easy to handle for Disney vacations and day trips. He does not need a stroller much anymore. We needed something that can hold a higher weight. At 4 1/2 he is 46 pounds and tall. This folds and unfolds with one hand. Then easily slip the carry strap onto the shoulder. Perfect for easily getting on/off the Disney buses. It is very lightweight. I would not buy this for a smaller child needing more from a stroller. But for an older child needing only some sit down time at Disney it is perfect. Plus it was cheaper then renting a stroller at Disney.

Pros:
-very light
-easy to fold/unfold
-easy to handle
-can carry a child up to 55 pounds, one of the only ones I found
-has a carry strap

Cons:
-back does not adjust which is not necessarily a con in itself but my very tall son is put into an odd sort of half recline position and the top of the seat hits him at the base of the neck. His head flops backwards. He has to hold his head up or sit forward. The sun cover velcros to the seat which then holds the seat up more and gives his head somewhere to rest. We cannot use this without the sun cover.
-no cup holder so I bought one to put on this

SO-SO STROLLER

(score 3/5)

My friend had recommended this stroller and she researches everything to death so I expected more from it. I was torn between a Britax blink and the Volo and went with the Volo since it was cheaper and lighter. What I do like is that it's lightweight, easy to maneuver, and folds up fairly simple. What I don't like is that the stupid canopy just pops off when I'm trying to open or close the stroller. Also there are no cup holders. I'm also disappointed it doesn't recline but obviously I knew that when I bought it. I just didn't realize how much my almost 3 yr old would still long to lie down when strolling in it. This stroller is ok and we'll probably take it to Disneyland for our 6 yr old but will have to get another one that reclines for our younger daughter. Guess buying this depends on what you really need and want in a stroller.

Great stroller!

(score 5/5)

We just got this stroller off Craigslist and it was barely used. We just tried it out tonight and I LOVE it!! This will make our upcoming air travel so easy. I love that it's truly a one-hand fold and it's so easy to push, my 2 year old was pushing it around! Now to write a review about the accessory pack...

Great for kids 3 - 5years old

(score 5/5)

Bought this for my 3 and 5 year old kids when we go on trips. We have the Graco stroller, it was good for when they were babies but Graco is too bulky/heavy. This is one of the lightest strollers you can get. Its sturdy enough to comfortably push a 40lb kid. (Weight limit is 55lb for this stroller). Its exactly what I wanted...a very sturdy, light umbrella stroller that can carry a big kid. Its more expensive than the $20 -30 umbrella strollers but its really light weight (about 8lb) and more importantly the weight limit of 55lb. Most umbrella strollers are made for kids less than 30lb....so keep that in mind. Great for getting on the airplane or on the subway or bus because it easily folds up quickly and has a strap to carry it like a back-pack. MOST strollers DO NOT have a strap to carry it on your back.....this is VERY USEFUL if you are traveling alone with kids with other bags to carry. SUMMARY: BEST FEATURES this stroller has that is lacking in other strollers: LIGHT WEIGHT (at about 8lb its lighter than the other strollers that claim to be light weight), STRAP to carry it on your back, weight limit 55lb, VERY STURDY...so its easy to push.
